My name is K.Devyani, 2nd year student, CSE dept, studying in Dr.B.C.Roy Engineering College, Durgapur. I am from Kharagpur. My hobbies are painting, skating, playing guitar, listening to music and gaming. Am aquainted with programming languages like C, C++and Java. And lastly, love coding and am enjoying this new experience with FOSS.
A few words about the dgplug summer training, am loving the part that am learning a lot more stuff than just a new language (python). Not only that am getting to learn new things, but it is helping me how to approach problems, i.e. helping me learn how to make systematic approaches. I owe a sincere thanks to kushal for being patient enough with the students. Though am having a tough time keeping up, but still enjoying the experience.

I am Nilanjit Mitra, a newbie in the world of GNU/Linux. I completed my B. Tech. this year in Electronics & Communication Engineering from Dr. B. C. Roy Engineering college, Durgapur. I have programming knowledge in C, HTML/CSS. When I am not working or studying I like to play guitar or listen music.
It's been third week now since the DGPLUG(Durgapur Linux User's Group) Summer Training'13 has started. The learning experinence is really good as the sessions are interesting and also interactive. The training covers so many areas like communication guidelines(for mailing lists, IRC chats etc. to speak with mentors, upstream developers or fellow programmers), using GNU/Linux using shell commands, working with Vim Editor, GIT(Revision control Tool), programming in Python, to name a few.
The classes taken by Kushal and mbuf were really nice. From the inroductory classes I came to know about the hacker community and FOSS culture. I found these links quite useful and motivating for newbies:
The training is attended by around 50 people from all over the world. So, it is a good chance to meet like minded people who are interested to contribute to FOSS community.
Introduction
I am Bidisha Mukherjee.I am during my B.Tech in Computer science and Engineering from Dr.B.C.Roy Engineering College, Durgapur.
The Summer Training 2013 at #dgplug channel is a very nice way to introduce people like us to the a new language and use the computer as it should be used by an engineer. Sometimes I feel lack of information that leads me to commit a number of mistakes. But later on this in turn helps me to learn from my mistake and helps me to rectify them.
Thank you all those who have taken this initiative to conduct this Summer Training at #dgplug.
I am Rashmi,a student of CSE department from Dr. B.C.Roy Engineering college,Durgapur. I have very positive thinking about this training. And I am very glad so that i got a chance to do it.It is very much important for me and i dont want to miss a single class because very class is much more important than the previous. All the persons are very friendly and have supporting nature. The things which I like the most about this training is firstly it is free of cost, anyone from anywhere can do it,they take the thinks very serously and helped us a lot in any type of problem.Everyone in irc are available most of the time so we can ask our questions any time.I am very much impressed from the class and specially from the home tasks which were given to us. I want to thanks Kushal and all other mentors who gives their precious time to us so that we can learn more and more. And every year this training should be conducted for newbies.
My name is Anisha Agrawal. I am pursuing B.Tech in Information Technology from National Institute of Technology, Durgapur. I currently reside in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. I love to code and I'm interested in contributing to the FOSS community. That's what brought me to Dgplug Summer Training 2013.
The training began two weeks ago and taught us something new every day. The first few sessions were on communication guidelines which taught us about the various communication tools used in the FOSS world and writing correct e-mails. Then we progressed to learning the basics of command language interface (and its awesomeness!), directory structure of Linux OS (FHS), and Vim editor. The last few sessions were on git (a distributed version control system), reStructuredText and today we started off with python, a much awaited session.
I have thoroughly enjoyed the training so far; it has helped a lot in improving my techincal skills. I am thankful to our mentor Kushal for giving us this opportunity and for being so patient with us.
Looking forward to the coming sessions!
