13:51 : sehenaz 1. Firstly i thought that i know everything from computer and it would be very easy to carry on this Summer Training. There i went wrong. After joining this i knew whatever i learnt till now was just only the starting. many things yet to learn. But now after completing one month I seriously feel like i have learned something useful . 2. 13:53 : priyankasaggu119 1.jasonbraganza, it is undoubtedly a yes that everyone is benefited from the summer training and so am I. There are like hundred of things I learn from IRC conversation whether it is any time of the day on it. I am so happy that Linux is so much into my everyday life after being a part of DGLPUG Summer Training. Besides, I can proudly say that I am also a part of open community(though not active :p) 2. See, everyone here is so damn intellect,
13:53 : so, what I personally feel is to bring changes into me as I learn from others. I don't feel like there should be major changes into the program. If there is any, that should be from our side only(participants side). 3. I look forward to learn more about Open Source. And in a nutshell, just wanna complete the summer training positively.
13:54 : sonia !
13:54 : jasonbraganza priyankasaggu119, if you’re a part and learning, youare an active member :)
13:54 : priyankasaggu119 yes jasonbraganza
13:54 : shivam2704 jasonbraganza, ;)
13:54 : jasonbraganza priyankasaggu119 and we all started somewhere and we all have our weaknesses. we all learn from each other. Thank you :)
13:54 : next
13:54 : smule jasonbraganza, I have learned about lots of new thing like 1. Tor browser, DuckDuckGo etc., Security and privacy related aspects when working online. 2. I thing all fine but It will better if we know topic before some hours of class(It will useful to do some homework rather than blindly attend training). 3. Explore some free and open source projects
13:55 : priyankasaggu119 Thanks alot jasonbraganza :)
13:55 : jasonbraganza smule will pass those suggestions over :) thank you :)

13:55 : RJ722 !
13:56 : kps_ 1. This training has helped me in better knowing the history behind hacking and has made me more aware regarding my liberty. I also learnt various tools like git, rst, irc, etc and it helped me better understand my linux system. Also I understood the importance of writing even though I don't write that much; but I will.
13:56 : smule jasonbraganza, Thanks :)
13:56 : kps_ 2. Nothing till now that I didn't like. Just the timing sometimes doesn't suit me. I have to miss my dinner.
13:56 : 3. I would like to learn python and learn working on projects and contribute to FOSS. I have always been a Linux fan so I'm glad I found this training. :)
13:56 : Also I would like to learn command line and the Linux System architecture in detail.
13:56 : jasonbraganza kps_ when I was young I walked up the hill 5 miles to school :P
13:57 : kps_ seriously though, sometimes you need scrifice for your own good :)
13:57 : kps_ jasonbraganza, yes i understand
13:57 : jasonbraganza kps_ and thank you :)

13:57 : kps_ jasonbraganza, thank you
13:57 : j605 1. It brought a lot of structure. TBH I was putting my blog in the backburner for far too long and I was finally able to get out and do it. I learnt a lot of being patient while communicating even more so given the nature of the channel and rules regarding swearing :) Regardging structure I never concentrated on documenting my work so learning about it properly helps. And a lot of best practices are generally
13:57 : not taught in books but passed on. 2. Please force a distro choice for people who are new to linux in order to remove confusion with respect mundane administrative tasks. I like the impromptu schedule announcements to keep the class fresh so eventhough it sounds bad to others I would like for it to continue. 3. May be take up a distro like arch and have a home task of installing it can give a real perspective
13:57 : of how things are laid out. May be a mumble server where the channel members can talk on. I know that this outside of the program's perview but this should be frictionless for everyone to get to know each other :)
13:59 : jasonbraganza all good suggestions :) glad the trainings helping you out j605 :) thank you.

13:59 : shiva 1. I learnt a lot by now. I am practicing things that I didn't know about before, I started using safety precautions while using internet like tor and duckduckgo. I become familiar with IRC and experienced communication over it and mailing lists. First time experienced an online training. Got to know about reality of internet and our government from those documentaries that I could never think of. And Improving my blogging habbit. Got to know new Linux
13:59 : skills from LYM, before joining this training I just knew about its basics. Also, developed a habit of reading.
13:59 : 2. The things that I wanted to change in this training is already discussed in Sayan's session. That is, sometime folks asks really basic questions that could easily be answered if they google it first.
13:59 : 3. I don't want to change anything as such. To me it seems to be great. Initially I wanted to learn upstream contribution ASAP. But now I know the key of patience. :)
14:00 : jasonbraganza that’s the best *I* learnt last year :P patience :) thank you shivam :)

14:00 : poojaencoded !
14:00 : storymode7 1) I've started to read more blogs now. I read student planet now. I get to know about more tools daily. Like for IRC I came to know about weechat, which I use as my primary IRC client now.
14:00 : 2) Till now there isn't anything that I didn't like about the training. First thing that I like the most is raising awareness about privacy. Next thing that I like that there are folks who always try to help you (given you've done due research). Everybody is friendly..
14:00 : 3) Next I want to try other ways of blogging. Like kushal said if you use something like Nikola, shonku (sorry if I'm wrong) you can do all the blogging from the command line. I'll try to learn about them on my own first :)
14:00 : s/../.

14:01 : jasonbraganza thank you storymode7. nice to see you grow! :)

14:01 : Sarques_ 1. Got to know about mailing lists and communication guidelines. Learned linux and linux command lines more deeply. Blogging also, a very nice step to express yourself. There are so many things, no need to explain i think :) 2. I don't want to change anything as of now, but i would like that sayan completes his Git session. Its a much needed. :) 3. A project using what i have learned here is much needed.
14:02 : jasonbraganza thank you Sarques_. Git training seems to be a piopular request so far :)

14:02 : docutils package etc.The most thing i like was links provided to read.
14:02 : 2)I don't feel any dislikes about the training.
14:02 : 3)I am not a experienced guy to tell what should be next.

14:06 : jeet__ 1) Knowledge has no limit. Let me be honest, I never knew there is something like IRC until I came across the Summer Training of DGPLUG. Since then I've found newer ways to learn and meet new people. After that, since the beginning of the training, I have learnt a lot. Be it communication guidelines or linux FHS and RST. The PYM and LYM books are masterclass. I have inculcated the habit of reading more content, being patient, thanks to DGPLUG.; (2) The summ

14:07 : sonia 1. I have recently joined the summer training. It taught me how to help ourselves and also, I feel quite motivated. I have just started LYM book, too. I had never thought of writing blogs but after this training,I would like to gear up :P
14:07 : 2. As a newcomer(joined this training late) ,it is little difficult to cope with others and understand all the things. So,it is here where some students like me feel underrated. I would like to sugggest one thing that the teacher should ask questions(from previous session)from the delegates in order to improve them :)
14:07 : 3. I want to learn about github as I tried and searched, but could not get anything:( .Also,I would like to explore more and want to get involve more in this community :)
14:07 : jeet__ Okay I am breaking it down. jasonbraganza Can I get a chance please
14:08 : j605 jasonbraganza: probably preventing a kick due to spamming. weechat rate limits posts automatically to prevent that :)
14:08 : jasonbraganza jeet__ queue up., we’re here :)
14:08 : jeet__ Sure :)

14:09 : RJ722 1. The training made me talk - talk and talk, be there, speak wrong if may and then apologize if you have to and although
14:09 : it might not seem notable, it is huge for me, and I want to thank the welcoming community around dgplug.
14:10 : Also, a point worth mentioning is that now I've got these wonderful friends in the form of mentors. Thank You! :-)
14:10 : Another effect the summer training program had was that it got me hooked to research the history behind the free and open
14:10 : source movements which in turn resulted in me extensive reading on the subject matter.
14:10 : 2. The only shortcoming I can think of atm is that I can't put a face behind the usernames, it would be really great if we could've some sort

14:13 : 2. >A bit more clarity on home tasks and prerequisites, I know we need to hang around the IRC to know them, but getting in the mailing list ( like we did today on time management ) would be nice so we can be prepared for the session, and more changes are needed in me than here.
14:14 : 3. > Sessions on practical application of FOSS, Career path and guidelines and More hand on sessions would be nice.

The main change in me after joining dgplug is an open

14:25 : we learn we should write it. 2.Nothing till now i didn't like.So i don't want to change anything as of now. 3. I want to learn more about python and want to do projects so that i can learn more and i want to contribute to FOSS :)

14:27 : v16k 1. For me it has been learning about communication skills and the importance of writing. This is something a lot of us take for granted and indeed this is the reason we spent the most time on it. It has also having the mentors, you're awesome :).
14:27 : poojaencoded jasonbraganza :)
14:27 : v16k 2. Till now I don't see anything that I didn't like :) . The only suggestion is having the hometasks clear outside of the logs.
14:27 : 3. I think working on a new project together will help us get a better perspective about the process of contribution (then again I don't know what has been planned).

14:30 : jeet__ 1) Knowledge has no limit. Let me be honest, I never knew there is something like IRC until I came across the Summer Training of DGPLUG. Since then I've found newer ways to learn and meet new people. After that, since the beginning of the training, I have learnt a lot. Be it communication guidelines or linux FHS and RST. The PYM and LYM books are masterclass. I have inculcated the habit of reading more content, being patient, thanks to DGPLUG.;
14:30 : 2) The summer training is great. No such complaints. Just two pointers: (i) If may happen that we miss some session, and then watch it back from the logs. But the logs contain trimmed information. After the session has ended, batul should record some extra content, would be helpful for the reader. (ii)Please update the topic of discussion beforehand on the calendar itself. Would be beneficial.;
14:30 : jasonbraganza v16k aah understood :) and thank you :)
14:30 : jeet__ 3) I have been working with Python for a while. I want to delve deeper into bigger projects that will push my limits. Want to learn some server side things with Python. Implementing web apps and other cool things with Python.
14:32 : jasonbraganza jeet__ let me take all those to the backroom :)and yes read more :) Thank you!

14:32 : sidntrivedi012 1.It has helped me learn how to become a good programmer and also a good collaborator by teaching me to be patient and a good communicator. It introduced me to IRC, the historic story of Aaron Swartz,Edward Snowden, RMS,the HowTo's articles by ESR,the free Software Movement, the awesome ways to protect our data and maintain our privacy and yes,the fundamentals of Linux through LYM .It helped me to head start a blog which
14:32 : I have been planning to do and my parents were also insisting me to start since my high school.Yes,The guest sessions proved to be a boon since they helped me to interact and listen to some very awesome folks out in the world and learn from them.
14:32 : v16k jasonbraganza, no prob. Thank you!
14:32 : sidntrivedi012 2.According to me,everything is perfect. The simplicity yet awesomeness of IRC as a communication channel is the best thing.
14:33 : 3.I am looking forward to learn more about Linux and its programming and applications.Having seen so many documentaries and read so many articles on open source and Free Software Movement,I am also very eager to learn more about how to contribute to open source organisations.I am also very eager to learn about various licenses like GPL,MIT License,Apache License etc.
14:34 : jasonbraganza sidntrivedi012, again yes, the value of folks with so many years of experience is inestimable :) Thank you!
